2 cups seedless raisins
1 1/2 cups glazed fruit chopped
1 cup walnuts
1/2 cup orange juice
2 t vanilla
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar (or 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup white sugar)
2 eggs
4 1/2 cups sifted flour
2 t cinnamon
2 t baking powder
1 t soda

Directions:

Rinse raisins in hot water; drain and dry. Combine raisins, fruit, juice, vanilla and let stand. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Add fruit mixture and blend until well distributed. Let stand 1 1/2 hours in refrigerator (overnight is better) Divide into 8ths. Pat each out on floured board into strips about 1 1/2 inches wide, 3 inches long and 1/2 inch thick. Bake on greased cookie sheet (do not crowd) in hot oven (400º) for 12-15 minutes (until light brown).
