"The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found."--Calvin Trillin

Vanilla wafers

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan over heat, stir the Pet milk, chocolate chips, marshmallows & salt until it's thick (use double boiler if you have). Line the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan with crushed vanilla wafers and a few crushed pecans. Spoon 1/2 the ice cream over the wafers. Cover with half the chocolate mixture and repeat. If desired, save a little of the crust and sprinkle over the top. Freeze until firm.

(We buy half gallons of ice cream in the rectangle containers and slice about 1/2 or 3/4 inch slices with the electric knife.)

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
We take turns hosting Smith Christmas and last year we had the kitchen at Mom & Dad's center cater it. DeDe was bringing this for dessert. Well, after she had it assembled, the cake pan she brought to make it in (we were in Missouri) didn't fit in the freezer we had access to! I ran to the store a got a couple aluminum pans and we transferred the dessert to them. It didn't look like the dessert Mom & Dad always made, but it tasted the same. We all laughed and enjoyed.
