2 cups butter
1 1/3 cup powdered sugar
4 cups flour
1+ teaspoon almond extract


Frosting (usually x 4)

1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 teaspoon light corn syrup (Karo brand)
2 teaspoons milk
1 or 2 drops of food coloring

Preheat oven for 350 degree F. Prep baking sheets with baking paper.

Mix room temperature butter with powdered sugar until smooth. Add almond extract and mix again.

Fold in flour (place a few tea spoons aside for rolling).

Cool dough in fridge.

Roll in 1/4 inch high or less (the thinner the better). Cut out with cookie cutters and place on baking or parchment paper.

Bake for 10 minutes. Cool, let harden for 2 hours. Then frost.

Frosting

Mix ingredients together. Apply delicately to cooled cookies with a spoon.

Cookies last 2 weeks when kept in a sealed container.

These were Mick Connelly's mother's famous sugar cookies (Ann Connelly (Lachenmayer)). She served them at Christmas and thanksgiving. She loved finding cookie cutters at garage sales or new that were 'bite sized' and bigger.
