1 lb. Whole Nut Meats (4 Cups)
1 lb. Pitted Dates (about 2 Cups)
1 Cup Sifted Flour
1 Cup Sugar
4 Eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla


Directions:
Directions:
Cut up dates (and nuts, if you prefer) in a bowl and sift sugar and flour over them. Mix. In another bowl add 3 tablespoons cold water to egg yolks and beat until light. Add vanilla. Mix with date-nut mixture. In another bowl add salt and 2 tablespoons cold water to egg whites; beat until stiff but not dry. Fold into first mixture. Turn into 2 small or regular size bread pans, in the bottom of which oiled paper has been fitted (or use aluminum foil and just lift out when baked).

Bake in 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
