1/3 C soft butter
1/3 C Karo Syrup,
1/2 t salt
1 t vanilla
3 1/2 C (1 pound) sifted confectioners sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Blend butter, Karo Syrup, salt, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
Add sifted confectioners sugar all at once.
Mix all together - first with a spoon and then with hands knead in dry ingredients.
Turn onto a board and continue kneading until mixture is well blended and smooth. Makes and 1 1/3 pounds candy. Store in a cool place.
Flavor and shape may be varied to suit taste.

Red and White layers: Divide fondant into 3 equal parts. Color 2 parts with red food coloring, flavor as desired, and leave 1 part white. Pat out into rectangles of equal size on wax paper. Place white layer between rd layers. Chill, cut lengthwise into 1-inch bars, then slice bars crosswise.

Also can divide fondant in half and flatten into a rectangle. Layer the two and role into a jelly rool. Chill and cut into slices.
