1 pound round steak, 1-inch thick
Flour
3 tablespoons oil or shortening
3 small onions, thinly sliced
1 ½ teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
Dash thyme
Dash garlic salt
2 cups water
3 medium russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
Paprika

Directions:
Heat oven to 350°F. Cut meat into 1-inch cubes and coat with flour. Heat oil or shortening in skillet; brown the meat. Add the onions and cook until the onion is tender. Pour the meat and onions into an ungreased 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle the top with 3 tablespoons flour, salt, pepper, thyme, and garlic salt. Pour water over the mixture. Cover and bake 45 to 60 minutes or until the meat is fork tender.

Increase the oven temperature to 450°F. Arrange potatoes on top of the meat; sprinkle with salt and paprika. Bake uncovered about 30 minutes longer or until the potatoes are tender.
