lb. butter
3 medium onions, chopped
8 russet potatoes, peeled, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
cup granulated sugar (or more to taste)

Directions:
Directions:
Soak the sliced potatoes in cold water. Thoroughly dry the potatoes. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large pan. Brown the onions in the butter seasoning with salt, pepper, and sugar. Add the slices potatoes and cook, stirring periodically, until fork tender. The sugar should caramelize. The completed dish should NOT taste sweet.
