¼ cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 tablespoon vanilla

Directions:
Cook milk and flour, stirring until thick. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla. Gradually add cooled milk mixture. Beating well after each addition. Use food coloring to tint, if desired.

If you want a white frosting, use clear vanilla and shortening.
