Ingredients:
cup shortening at room temperature
1 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon baking powder
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening; add the sugar, then flour and salt. Add cup milk and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add baking powder. Add eggs and remaining milk; beat 1 minute. Add vanilla. Pour into greased and floured sheet cake pan or three 9-inch prepared cake pans. Bake sheet cake at 300F for 40 minutes or until cake springs back when gently pressed in the center. The lower temperature should help the cake to rise evenly. If using the 9-inch cake pans, bake at 350F for 18 to 20 minutes. Top with fresh, sweetened strawberries and whipped cream or favorite frosting.
