1 ½ c. hot water
1c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
½ c. shortening
2 eggs
1 ½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting:
½ c. butter
1 ½ c. brown sugar
4 T. cream
1 c. oatmeal
1 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over oatmeal and let stand. Cream brown sugar, white sugar and shortening. Beat eggs into mixture. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Add vanilla. Add oats and beat well. Put into greased pan. Bake at 350° for 30 – 35 minutes. Remove and cool a few minutes. Add frosting.

Boil butter, brown sugar and cream for one minute. Stir in oatmeal and nuts. Pour over cake and return to oven for a few minutes.
