In saucepan
2 cups boiling water
1 cup red river cereal

In large bowl
3/4 cup molasses
3 Tbsp salt
7 cups lukewarm water
3/4 cup oil

1 cup wheat germ
1 cup wheat bran
4 Tbsp instant yeast ( or other in water/ sugar)
9 cups white flour
9 cups brown flour

Directions:
Directions:
1. In saucepan cook red river cereal in boiling water and then set aside to cool.
2. In large bowl add molasses, salt, warm water and oil.
3. Add cooled red river cereal to bowl mixture.
4. Add wheat germ and wheat bran to bowl mixture and stir.
5. Add yeast and 4 cups of white flour and stir well.
6. Add rest of white flour and stir.
7. Add 4-5 cups of brown flour and stir.
8. Add rest of brown flour but add only 1 cup at a time and stir after each addition.
9. When stirring gets difficult, dump out onto floured surface and knead rest of flour into dough.
10. Sometimes you may need a little less brown flour or a little more.
11. Knead until dough is not sticky. It should be smooth.
12. Grease top of ball of dough and put into large greased bowl. Cover with tea towel.
13. Let rise until doubled in size. Punch down and make into loaves. Put in greased bread pans.
14. Let rise until almost doubled in size.
15. Bake in oven 350’F for about 25-30 minutes.
16. Remove from pans. Let cool on rack.

Grama tried using all whole wheat flour but found it too heavy.
We often had this bread at Grama’s house with her homemade soup. It made a delicious, warm and comforting ‘Grama’ meal.
