2 lb lean ground turkey or ground beef
½ tsp. ground black pepper
1 red onion, chopped
2 can (8 oz.) no-salt-added tomato sauce
1 c. ketchup
½ c. barbecue sauce
2 tsp. chili powder
Dash of hot pepper sauce
8 wheat buns or rolls, split



Directions:

In a large skillet, combine ground turkey, black pepper and onion. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is no longer pink.

Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce, chili powder and hot pepper sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture has thickened.

Place a wheat bun on each plate. Top each with a lettuce leaf and a portion of meat mixture.
