1 lb Italian sausage
1-2 cloves of garlic (minced)
1T whole basil
tsp. salt (or more to taste)
1 lb can (2.cups) tomatoes
2 (6oz.) cans (1 1/3 cup) tomato paste
1 T sugar
tsp thyme
tsp oregano
10 oz pkg lasagne noodles
3 cups ricotta or creamy cottage cheese
cup grated parmesan or Romano cheese
2 T parsley flakes
2 beaten eggs
tsp salt to taste
tsp pepper
1 lb mozzarella cheese (sliced thin)

Directions:
Brown meat slowly and spoon off excess fat. Add next 5 ingredients. Simmer uncovered 30 minutes stirring often. Cook noodles in large amount of boiling salted water. Drain and rinse.
Combine remaining ingredients except mozzarella cheese. place the noodles in greased 9x13x2" pan. Spread with the cottage cheese filling then top with the mozzarella cheese and the meat sauce. Repeat layers.
Bake 375 about 30-45 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Filling will set slightly.
