1 c soft shortening (1/2 butter)
1 c sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. milk or cream
2 tsp. vanilla
***Cream together
2½ c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
***Sift together

Directions:
Stir all together. Chill dough. Roll out dough and cut into desired shapes. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 7-8 minutes until delicately brown. Makes about 5 dozen cookies
