Ingredients:
Ingredients:
8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate for melting such as Baker’s chocolate
8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks to add to batter (we prefer the chunks)
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup flour
¼ tsp. baking powder
1 cup chopped walnuts or other nut (*optional – see note)

Directions:
Directions:
MICROWAVE 8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate in large microwavable bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. Add sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla; stir with wooden spoon until well blended. Add flour and baking powder; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips or chunks and walnuts.

DROP scant ¼ cup of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE at 350 degrees for 13 or 14 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch. Cool 1 minute; remove from baking sheets. Cool completely on wire racks. Makes 18 servings, 1 large cookie each.

*Note: If omitting nuts, increase flour to ¾ cup to prevent spreading. This makes 15 large cookies.
