3½ cups flour
⅔ cup sugar
½ tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
⅔ cup shortening (margarine)
½ tsp. almond
1½ - 2 (10-12 oz) cups honey

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cream shortening and sugar, stir in unbeaten eggs and flavoring. Add dry ingredients. Knead a little on a breadboard. When smooth and firm, roll dough into 12” ropes. Cut 2 or 3 at a time into pieces the size of hazelnuts. On a cookie sheet, bake at 350ºF for 15 min. Shake pan when golden brown. Cool. In dutch oven size pan, boil honey. Stir with a wooden spoon. Spoon cookies into honey. Empty into a flat plate. Wet hands and shape into wreath. Sprinkle with colored balls of sugar.
