⅓ cup soft shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. allspice
1 cup cold water
1 tsp. ginger
7 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup molasses

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, brown sugar and molasses thoroughly. Stir in ⅔ cup water. Sift remaining ingredients together and stir in. Chill dough. Preheat oven to 350F. Roll dough and cut. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 12 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
