Green Beans and Tomatoes

1 tablespoon clarified butter or olive oil ghee
1 medium onion diced
4 cups green beans - cut in 2 inch pieces fresh or frozen. (About 1.5 lbs.)
15 ounce can diced tomatoes
15 ounce can tomato sauce (I prefer a second can of diced tomatoes)
1-2 T. All Purpose Lebanese Spice Blend*

Heat clarified butter over medium high heat and saute onion until translucent, about 7-9 minutes, stirring frequently.

Stir in green beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and Lebanese spices. If just using diced tomatoes add 1/2 cup of water.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 30 minutes or longer if you wish. (I prefer about an hour to get very soft beans.)
 

All Purpose Lebanese Spice Blend*

1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground Nutmeg
1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
1/4 tsp. Ground Allspice

Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container until you're ready to use.
