1 pkg dry yeast
1 1/2 c warm water
Pinch sugar
4 c flour
1/4 c sugar
1 egg
1/4 c oil
1 1/2 tsp salt
Additional Flour, if necessary
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 large spanish onions, diced and sauteed
Poppy seeds
Kosher salt, to taste

Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water with a pinch of sugar in a large mixer bowl. Add next five ingredients. Mix well with dough hook (or by hand), until mixture forms soft dough. Slowly add more flour if dough is too sticky. Let rise 1 hour. Grease large cookie sheet and dust with flour. Roll out dough to fit into pan and place it on top. Smear with beaten egg. Sprinkle with onions, poppy seeds, and kosher salt. Let rise 30-35 minutes.
Bake at 350 F for 1 hour. Allow to cool and cut into large rectangles. Yields: 20-24 servings
