Chalupa shells (tostados), then layer remaining ingredients
Refried beans
Ground beef or chicken mixture - see below
Shredded lettuce
Shredded cheese
Salsa

For the beef mixture:
1 lb ground beef
green pepper, chopped
yellow onion, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Boil with salt, adding enough water to cover beef and more water when beef is losing its pink color (enough to cover 1 inch again). Add chopped peppers and onions and then let simmer until water has evaporated and peppers are soft. Add more water and continue to simmer if peppers are not soft. You can use shredded chicken instead of ground beef mixture and add sliced avocado to top it off.
