1 cup flour
⅓ cup butter, softened
½ brown sugar
½ cup chopped nuts, optional
8 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup sugar
2 tbsp milk
2 tbsp lemon juice
½ tsp vanilla
1. Heat oven to 350º. Grease 8x8 pan.
2. Combine flour, butter, brown sugar and nuts. Mix well. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for topping.
Press the rest firmly into bottom of pan. Bake 8-10 minutes, till browned.
3. With electric mixer mix together cream cheese and sugar till smooth. Add milk, lemon juice, egg and
vanilla. Pour over crust, sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
4. Bake 23-30 minutes.
**You can also put a fruit topping on these bars; if you do then don't reserve any of the crumb mixture,
just press all of it into the pan for the bottom crust. Put fruit topping on after baking and completely
cooled. Must be kept refrigerated.
