Cake:
1 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c sugar
3 heaping tbs shortening or butter
1 egg with enough milk to make 1/2 c

3 - 4 apples, pared and sliced
Salt, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon to taste

Crumb:
1/2 c flour
2 tbs butter
1/2 c light brown, confectionery, or granulated sugar
Pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Mix dry ingredients with shortening.
Add egg and milk.

Pare and slice apples.
Add sugar and spices

Crumb: Mix all ingredients

Spread cake mixture in oblong tin.
Place apples on top.
Sprinkle with crumbs.
Bake 30 - 45 min at 350º

Delicious served with whipped cream.
