1½ c. rolled oats
1 c. flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 eggs beaten
¼ c. shortening, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together all dry ingredients. Add milk, shortening and eggs. Batter will be somewhat thick and may take longer than ordinary pancakes to cook. Serve with your favorite syrup or other topping such as fruit, peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Buttermilk is the best, but I have used milk mixed with two capfuls of balsamic vinegar instead. Recipe originally from Mrs. Guthrie in the "Buttercups and Brandy" cookbook from the Junior League of Waterloo, Iowa.
