2 cups all-purpose or cake flour
1 ⅔ cups sugar
⅔ cups cocoa
1 teaspoons soda
1 teaspoon salt
teaspoon baking powder
1 cups water
cup shortning
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour 13x9 baking pan or two 9-inch or three 8-inch round layer pans. Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl and blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Blend 3 minutes high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes for layer pans or 45 minutes for oblong or until wooden pick comes out clean.
