1 ¾ C. sifted flour
½ tsp. soda
¼ tsp. salt
½ C. shortening
1 C. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1-2 oranges
1 ½ T. grated orange peel
1 C. orange slice gumdrops
½ C. walnuts, chopped
Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and grated orange peel. . Add dry ingredients alternately with ⅓ C. orange juice. Stir until mixed. Stir in chopped orange gumdrops and walnuts. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375º . Remove from oven. Let stand 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Makes 48 cookies
