⅔ c. shortening
2¼ c. firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
2⅔c. sifted flour
2½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz) pkg. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Melt shortening in large saucepan; stir in brown sugar. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together into mixing bowl. Add flour mixture, nuts, and chocolate chips to shortening mixture; blend well.
Line 15x10x1” pan with greased waxed paper. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool in pan. Cut into squares.
