Grilled Romaine lettuce and onion salad Recipe

2 heads Romaine lettuce...
3/4 cup balsamic vinegar..
1 red onion, sliced....
3 to 4 T extra-virgin olive oil...
Salt and pepper, to taste...
2 T Romano cheese...

Directions:
Directions:
Cut lettuce in half, lengthwise...
Rinse in cold water and pat dry and lay cut side down on paper towels for 5 minutes...
Cut onion in 1/4 inch slices...
Pour vinegar into pan and over medium-high heat, reduce to 1/4 cup, remove pan from heat and cover, set aside...
Brush cut side of lettuce with olive oil and do the same with the onion...
Grill both over flame for 3 minutes or until grill marks appear on both onion and lettuce, remove lettuce from heat, turn onion over get grill marks and put onion on top of lettuce...
Sprinkle lettuce with Romano and drizzle the reduced balsamic vinegar over the lettuce..
Enjoy!

Really tasty, I add 1 strip of maple pepper bacon to this salad...
Recipe is in section misc. under maple pepper bacon...make ahead and freeze these bacon strips...
Great with anything grilled meat, chicken or fish products...
