1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 ½ cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
3 cups whole oats
½ cups nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugars. Add beaten eggs and vanilla and beat well. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to sugar mixture. Stir in oatmeal and nuts. Divide dough and wrap in wax paper to chill, or just cover and chill at least 2 hours. Form into balls of 1 inch. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in oven 350º for 8-10 minutes. Loosen with spatula while hot.
