"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Preheat oven to 450.

Soften 2 tablespoons butter; set aside. In bowl, mix together flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in remaining 3 tablespoons butter until particles are fine. Add egg mixture to flour mixture. Toss with fork to form a soft dough. Knead very gently on lightly floured surface. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out 12 rounds with floured 2 1/2 inch cutter, rerolling scraps if needed. Place half the rounds on ungreased cookie sheet. Spread each with 1 teaspoon softened butter; top with remaining rounds. Sprinkle tops lightly with sugar. Bake until golden, about 15 minutes.

Break open a warm shortcake, spoon berries over, cover with top. Top with whipped cream.
