1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream tartar
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs.

Then add flour, tartar, soda and salt which have been sifted together.

Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in 2T. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon.

Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9-10 minutes or until lightly brown but still soft.

These will puff at first but then flatten and crinkle on top.

Watch baking time carefully as they will burn easily.
If baked too long they also become very hard.
This is one of my all time favorite cookies.
For variety, you could melt some chocolate chips and dip half the cookie in the melted chocolate. MMM!
