3 tbsp olive oil
2 cups onions, chopped and divided
1 red pepper, coarsely chopped
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
5 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 - 12 ounce can tomato paste
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 tsp oregano
3 tsp basil
1½ tsp dried thyme
1 pinch red pepper flakes
2 - 14 ounce cans of Italian style stewed tomatoes
2 - 28 ounce cans of crushed tomatoes
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 cups beef broth
2 bay leaves
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
¼ cup brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1. Saute half of the onions in the oil, add sausage, beef and garlic. Cook until the beef is no longer red. Drain the excess
grease.
2. Blend left over onions and red pepper in food processor and then add this mixture to the crock pot along with; meat
mixture, tomato paste, spices, tomatoes, beef broth, sugar, mushrooms, bay leaves, and balsamic vinegar.
3. Heat to a boil and then let simmer for 1-4 hours.
