1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 cup pecans
2 teaspoon vanilla

For frosting:
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
2/3 pound powdered sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup pecans, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Add melted chocolate, vanilla and milk. Sift together dry ingredients and add. Fold in pecans. Bake in 350 degree oven in 2 13 x 9-inch baking pans.

For frosting: Melt butter and chocolate, let cool a bit. Add powdered sugar and unbeaten egg. Mix well. Add remaining ingredients. This makes the cake, believe me! (Note on recipe card)

On Grandma's recipe cards, she wrote that it cost a friend $100 dollars to get this recipe. I googled it and found another recipe that actually had mayonnaise for an ingredient for the Waldorf Astoria.
