Orange Drop Cookies Recipe

2/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp. orange juice

1. Cream together shortening and sugar.
2. Add in egg and blend well.
3. Add in orange juice (and small amount of zest, if desired), baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat well.
4. Add flour.
5. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes.
6. Allow cookies to cool.
7. Beat together powdered sugar and butter for the icing. Add in orange juice until icing consistency.
8. Top cookies with icing and allow to set at room temperature.
