1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/4 c. milk
1 3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in brown sugar. Boil and stir over low heat for two minutes. Stir in milk; bring to a boil stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Cool until lukewarm. Gradually stir in powdered sugar. Beat until thick enough to spread

This is the only frosting you should put on a spice cake (boxed or homemade). Never listen to someone who tells you you can use cream cheese frosting...it's delicious but a spice cake's soul mate truly is penuche frosting.
