3 lb. crystallized cherries, cut in halves
2 lb. crystallized pineapple, sliced thin
1 lb. oleo
2-1/4 c. sugar
10 eggs
2 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup (can omit if you don’t have any on hand)
¼ c. orange or pineapple juice
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
½ tsp. salt
5 c. flour
5 qt. pecans, broken in large pieces

Directions:
Using 1 cup of the flour, dredge the fruits and nuts. Cream oleo and sugar thoroughly. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift spices, salt and flour together, add to creamed mixture alternately with liquids. Add the fruits and nuts to mixture and let stand overnight in refrigerator. Drop on ungreased cookie sheet and bake until light brown in a slow oven at 275 degrees. This recipe makes 200 or more cookies.
