Personal
Notes: My mom, Annie Dela Cruz, was born and raised on a farm in the Phillipines. Her parents were farmers with a 4th grade education. She left that lifestyle, her parents, 8 siblings and came to America in 1968 after paying her way through college with a 4 year softball scholarship. She majored in chemistry and had a knack for food science. She made this savory Filipino dish for dinner often when I was a child. Now it has become a favorite in my household. The ingredients are simple but the dish is filling.
