Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Season steak with garlic powder and pepper.
In a large skillet pan (with lid) brown steak in olive oil or butter.
Add onion slices on top of steak. Pour beef broth to cover steak and onion. Turn heat down to med-low.
In a mixing cup, mix flour (or corn starch) in about 3/4 cup of warm water till smooth. Add to pan and stir well.
When sauce starts to bubble, cover the pan and put in oven for 2 hours. Check after an hour or so, and if needed, add more water or broth to cover steak. Add 1 tbsp. cornstarch in 1/2 c. water if sauce needs to be thicker.

Serve over boiled or mashed potatoes.

Hint: You can use the Better Than Bouillon Beef Base that comes in a jar. 1-2 tbsp mixed in about 2-3 cups of hot water. It is salty, so don't use too much!
