1-1⁄3 c. packed brown sugar
½ c. vegetable oil
½ c. sour cream
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1¾ c. flour
¾ c. unsweetened cocoa
2¼ tsp. instant coffee granules
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
⅛ tsp. ground black pepper
½ c. powdered sugar

Using a hand mixer on medium beat brown sugar and oil until well blended. Add sour cream, egg and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Combine flour, cocoa, coffee granules, baking soda, salt and pepper in a separate bowl. Beat until brown sugar mixture is well blended. Cover dough and refrigerate 3-4 hours. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in powdered sugar. Place 2 inches apart on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until tops of cookies are firm. Do not overbake. Remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes 2-3 dozen.
