"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Personal Notes:
My Grandmother on my Mother's side, Joan, has always been Bubbi to me. From the time I was a toddler, Bubbi owned a home up on the hillside in Avalon, a square-mile town on Catalina Island in Southern California. Her house and kitchen were an absolutely magical place. Every year, our extended family would gather just after Christmas for a week of presents, fun and love. A big part of these family get togethers was the food. We would spend hours in the kitchen, laughing and talking. Dinners were a family affair with everyone contributing some part of the cooking, even us kids! There were several recipes Bubbi would cook every year, but my absolute favorite was rib night. These were so messy, but they taste like Love to me. Be sure to enjoy the onions and even the cooked lemon slices with each bite. And don't be afraid to make extra sauce...the saucier the better!!! I hope you enjoy these as much as my family continues to.
