½ lb. butter or oleo
3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. flour
¼ tsp. soda, mixed in 1 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. lemon extract
5 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Have everything at room temperature. Blend sugar and butter very well. Add eggs. 1 at a time, beating well after each one. Beginning with buttermilk, add alternately with flour. Add dissolved soda and extract. Pour in a well greased tube pan. Bake at 325 º for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Do not open over during first hour.
