3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
4 T. molasses
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add beaten egg and molasses. Sift together and add to other: soda, salt, flour, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Roll into balls the size of a walnut. Dip tops into white granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2' or 3' apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
