Chocolate Mug Cake (with egg)

4 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 egg
3 Tbsp. milk
3 Tbsp.vegetable oil
¼ tsp. vanilla extract
3 Tbsp. chocolate chips (optional)

1. Add flour, sugar, and cocoa powder to a large mug and stir to combine.

2. Add egg and whisk.

3. Whisk in the milk and oil until all ingredients are combined and no dry spots remain.

4. Add vanilla and chocolate chips (if using) and stir.

5. Microwave until cake rises (2-3 minutes).

¼ tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar
⅛ tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. milk
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 Tbsp. hazelnut chocolate spread (Nutella), peanut butter, or chocolate chips (optional)

1. Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt to a large mug and stir to combine.

2. Whisk in the milk and oil until all ingredients are combined and no dry spots remain.

3. Drop Nutella, peanut butter, or chocolate chips into the middle - no need to push it down, it will sink while it bakes.

5. Microwave until cake rises (90 seconds).

An easy dessert if you're feeling lazy and want something sweet. The version with an egg has a spongy texture, the version without is more dry. Try both and see what you prefer.

Use an oversized mug if you have one, otherwise put a paper towel below the mug in the microwave in case it overflows. The batter will rise above the top of the mug and then fall back down.

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you like.
