6 oz. hot Italian turkey sausage
2 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped green bell pepper
8 garlic cloves minced
1 lb. ground sirloin
1 jalapeņo chopped
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cumin
3 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
2 bay leaves
1 1/2 c. merlot or other fruity wine red
2 (28 oz) cans whole tomatoes undrained and coarsely chopped
2 (15 oz) cans kidney or chili beans, drained
1/2 c (2 oz) shredded sharp cheddar.

Directions:
Directions:
1. Brown sausage and ground sirloin in large stock pot.

2. Add onion and peppers to cook until tender.

3. Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.

4. Add all other ingredients (except cheese) and bring to simmer and simmer for 15 to 30 minutes, add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve in bowls and top with cheese.
