2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup currants
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp caraway seeds
1 tsp salt
11 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter, cut into small piece
1 1/3 cup s buttermilk

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350F
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine flours, currants, sugar, baking powder, caraway seeds, salt and baking powder in a large bowl.
Cut in the butter with pastry blender. Mixture should resemble coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk, mix until a slightly sticky dough forms.
If dough seems too dry add just a little more buttermilk.
Make dough into a rough ball.
Transfer dough ball onto the prepared baking sheet, shape into a round mound.
Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until the bread is a golden brown and the crust is firm.
Cool on the baking sheet 10 minutes and then allow to finishing cooling on a wire rack.
