2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup walnuts
2 large ripe bananas peeled and cut into 1” pieces
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1 stick butter (room temperature)
½ cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preheat oven 350° racks at middle

Metal blade: Put the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nuts in the work bowl and process for 10 seconds or until the nuts are coarsely chopped. Remove the mixture and reserve it. Process the bananas for 1 minute or until they are pureed. Add the sugar and eggs and process the mixture for 1 minute. Add the butter and process for 1 minute. With the machine running, pour the buttermilk and vanilla through the feed tube. Blend in the reserved nut mixture by turning the machine on and off 3 – 5 times, or until the flour just disappears. Do not over process the batter.

Pour the batter into 2 buttered and floured bread dishes and bake for 45 – 50 minutes or until the bread is brown and cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

Makes 2 loaves.
