2 c. brown sugar firmly packed
1 c. white sugar
1 c. heavy ( whipping) cream
3 tbsp. corn syrup
2 tbsp. butter
pinch b. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Grease a heavy sauce pan (bottom and sides).
Add all ingredients ( except vanilla)
Melt over low heat, bring to boil over medium heat until candy thermometer reaches soft ball stage (235º)
Set bottom of pan in cold water for 1 min, remove and leave it undisturbed to cool for 30 min on rack
Scrape it into mix master bowl, add vanilla and beat until beginning to lose gloss - about 4- 5 min. Or beat vigorously by hand.
Pour into buttered 8" pan or foil pie plate. Let set.
