4 cups sifted flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. double acting baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. caraway seeds
1/4 cup butter
2 cups seedless raisins
1 1/3 cup buttermilk
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Sift flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda together.
Stir in caraway seeds. With a pastry blender cut in butter until mixture looks like coarse cornmeal.
Stir in raisins.
Combine buttermilk with egg and stir into mixture above just until moist.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth.
Shape into round load and put into a greased 2 qt. casserole.
Cut a X on top 2 in. deep
Bake for 70 minutes.
