Ingredients:  
6 Granny Smith apples, pared, cored and thinly sliced
2 lbs bratwurst, sliced
2 tsp butter
1 small onion, diced
2 potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 green pepper, diced
2 C sauerkraut (rinsed and drained) or cabbage (thinly sliced) or zucchini (peeled and thinly sliced)
1/2 C shredded mozzarella or Colby jack

Directions:
Directions:
Grease a 9 x 13 casserole dish.
Layer apples and sausage on bottom of dish.
Dot with butter.
Layer onions, potatoes, green pepper, and zucchini ( or sauerkraut or cabbage).
Bake at 300 for 1 hour.
Cover with cheese and bake until melted.
