1½ C boiling water
1 C oatmeal
1½ C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 C butter
1 C sugar
1 C brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Icing
2 TBSP butter
¾ C brown sugar
¾ C coconut
1 egg beaten
1 TBSP milk
½ C chopped milk

Cake
Mix boiling water and oatmeal together and let set for 4 minutes.
Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg set aside.
Melt butter add and cream sugars, eggs and vanilla, stir in sifted ingredients.
Pour into greased and floured 9x13 cake pan and bake at 350º for 40 minutes

Icing
In saucepan mix butter, sugar, coconut, egg, milk and nuts, cook until melted. Spread on hot cake and return to oven and bake at 350º for 10 minutes.

Gramma used to make this cake all the time but she would leave a corner without icing because I didn't like coconut.
