1 lb. pkg dates (cut)
1½ tsp. baking soda
2¼ c. boiling water

2¼ c. sugar
2 T. butter
1½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
4 c. flour
1½ tsp. salt
½ c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates, 1½ tsp baking soda and boiling water and let cool.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Add flour, salt and soda alternately with date mixture. Add vanilla and nuts. Bake at 350º F. for ½ hour then ½ hour at 300º F. Yield 4 small loaf pans and 6 small bread - Place strips of aluminum foil across pans for easy removal.
